Japonica Ikebana vases

Ikebana, also known as Kadō - the way of the flower - is an art form developed in Japan and is one of the traditional Japanese arts alongside the tea ceremony, calligraphy and the wearing of the kimono. Ikebana was originally developed for flower offerings and was initially reserved exclusively for men. Later, women of the nobility were also taught the art. Today, this art is practiced all over the world and is considered by many to be a creative hobby for arranging flowers in a stylish and festive way.

However, Ikebana is not simply about making a flower arrangement look beautiful. The basic concept of Ikebana is the connection between heaven, earth and people. The flower arrangements follow a different aesthetic to what we are used to.

Ikebana gives the creator the opportunity to express himself.

The artist works according to a special design pattern that differs according to one of the many masters and the season. Color combinations, shapes, lines and meanings of the plant material all play a role.

Through the arrangement, the artist represents his relationship to nature, but also the feelings that move him when creating the flower arrangement.

Although the arrangement of the flowers follows fixed rules, the selection and arrangement of the flowers and other plant material allows the artist to create his own interpretation.

The Japonica vase was designed according to the millennia-old principles of ikebana. This vase emphasizes the natural beauty of the flowers and plants and at the same time stimulates the creativity of its owner.

Thanks to its simple shapes, the Japonica fits into any room. There are no limits to creativity when arranging flowers, and no prior knowledge is required to create original decorations with this vase.

While it is often difficult with conventional vases to arrange a bouquet in such a way that it can unfold its full effect, or to position a single flower in such a way that its full beauty is shown to advantage, this is much easier with Japonica.

You simply cut the stem of the flower straight and place it on the Japonica's plug-in head. The flowers will stand upright, just the way you want them. Grasses can also be planted in this way.

The fact that the flowers do not stand with a large part of the stem in the water, as in a conventional vase, also means that they last longer. The flower only absorbs as much water through the stem as it really needs.

The Japonica can be washed by hand, the plug-in head is best cleaned with a dish brush.
